"Song in my Heart"

Recently I added a new item to my sidebar here on BabuLIfe.  Since many of the readers here are subscribers through various means, Bloglines, Goolge Reader, Feedburner etc., I though a heads up post may be in order.

On the actual site you'll see a new "Song in my Heart" item.  I wrestled with what to call this.  Initially it was "Stuck in my Head" because I thought I'd put songs that I just couldn't get out of my mind. But...I just figured I'd use this as more of a means to share a song that might be impacting me in more of a "heart shaping" fashion vs. a song I just can't get out of my mind.  These will be songs that I'm happy to have replaying on my heart each week.

So if you click away to my blog from your reader, you'll be able to see a video in the upper right next to the "Babu's Head" image.

Cut Capo Instructional

One of the web searches I get on this site is for the Kyser Cut Capo post I did a couple of years ago.  I've found this nifty little tool a nice way to brighten up chords.  I've often thought about creating a video or some chord charts for folks looking for that info.  Instead, I've found a great video created by Mark Roach that gives you the basics.  So if you're looking for some cut capo instruction, check it out below.  The only thing I would add is that the G chord = A when playing with other instruments.  A=B, Bm=C#m7, Em=F#m.

Grace Microcast Notes - 7/30/08

This week on the microcast I sat down with Lynnora Weast.  It's bittersweet for me to hear her story and to hear how God is moving her to the mission field in Central Asia.  Lynnora has been our resident violin player over the past year and a half on the worship team.  We're so happy to see her following God's lead, but sad to know her violin will not be gracing the stage.  Thanks Lynnora for your incredible heart and your desire to live life pursuing God's plan and will.

Vacasheeeoooon 2008!

This is it. Vacasheeeoooon 2008.  It's been awhile since our last vacasheeeoooon.  In fact one year ago last week to be precise.  I've had little flashes of vacation, but this is the one time I take an entire week away. I think my girls are just as excited about me spending countless hours with them.  Here's their list of "must do's".  We had a family meeting time over lunch to make our list:

• Watergun fight.
• Swimming
• Go to a movie: Wall-e
• Wii tourny
• Coloring
• Barbie playing

So forgive me if the posting gets a little lighter this week on both Twitter and here on BabuLife.  I'll be working through this list with my girls.  See y'all!

Anger

We've all experienced it to some degree. A moment of anger that causes our temperature to rise giving us the ability to do unexplainable acts...like throw an innocent item across a desk, snap at a child or spouse, or say something we regret to those we love most.  It happens.  If it's never happened to you, then one can only hope to have a tenth of your patience.

During our current series at Grace, we'll be exploring various emotions that can haunt us all.  So I have a favor to ask...we're looking for someone who is/has been dealing with the issue of anger.  Whether you're someone who's currently working to conquer it, or you're someone who's been freed from the bondage of anger...would you contact me at stories@graceks.org and share your story?

Friday Randomness: 7/25/08

• Vacation - I love this time of year in the office. Quiet...low key. Lots of vacations.  Mine starts Monday - Wednesday, August 6.  Woohooo!!!!
• Clone Wars Midnight Madness at Toys r Us - I'm thinking about going to this at midnight tonight.  Seriously...if you're not familiar with my blog, then you might want to take some time clicking on the "Toys Games and Other Junk" category. I'm a Star Wars geek.
• Typepad - I love Typepad. I've been using them to host this blog since June of 2005. I could never fathom leaving them....and today they just kept me for a longer time.  They responded to a trouble ticket within an hour and a problem with my blog was fixed. Yay Typepad!!!
• iPhone - I don't get it. What's sad is that I find myself smirking at hearing about the trouble many iPhone 3G buyers have experienced with their new gadget. I think I need to seriously ask myself why I find joy in that. Is it jealousy? Hmmmm... but here's a video that made me laugh.
• Friends - Addie and I are missing our friends the Kings.  They are in London thru September 17 (I have it marked on my wall calendar in my office...thank you very much Marie). It's nice following Brian on Twitter and reading Marie's daily blog posts.  This one in particular caught my fancy.  All hail the mighty Chuck Taylor's!
• Music - I have a boat load of new music to listen to.  I think I'll load up my iPod and get to listening.  A new music post may be in order.
• TwitPic - I've been having fun posting pics directly to TwitPic. As if Twitter itself wasn't enough, now you can follow me there too.  Snapshots from my daily life.  Things only my mother would care about...you would think....several of you get a kick of my pics because I can see how many times people view them.  Check 'em out here.
• Joel Rosenberg - Author who just completed the foreward to my Pops' book "Once an Arafat Man".  We're pretty excited about this...he's a great author.

Grace Microcast Notes - 7/23/08

Tim was back in the hot seat today after a few weeks of vacation.  We had a chance to catch up on the closing of the "Reach" series along with a brief discussion about the upcoming series beginning Sunday called "The Enemy Within".  It's nice having a consummate professional speaker in the chair across from you.

This week on the Microcast Kevin Allen had a fantastic interview with our guest speaker from last Sunday.  Matthew Ellison took time to go a little deeper with how he came to be a part of 1615.org.  Kevin had some great questions about their objectives with Grace Church's missions strategy.  You won't get this level of depth from anywhere else folks.  Good stuff.
