Recently a friend forwarded me the new Watermark website. I'm looking forward to their new album and really liked the look of the site. However, when I clicked on the about section, I found a sad note from Christy Nockels.
One of the things that drew both my wife and I to Nathan and Christy Nockels was their incredible testimony through the loss of a child. 6 years ago we had a miscarriage that really brought us closer together and closer to God. Through that time we would catch ourselves singing the old hymn "It is Well" as a source of encouragement. Soon after we ran across this song from Watermark: Glory Baby. We were hooked into their music from that point on. Addie and I saw them twice in one year as they toured through the Kansas City area. They are even better live than through a CD.
The sad news on the site is that this new upcoming album from Nathan and Christy Nockels (Watermark), will be their last. There is a higher calling on her life that is more important than any new song or CD. I applaud them both for making the decision to allow her to be the mommy she needs to be to both her kids. I know that we will always hear Christy Nockels on future Passion projects. If you've heard Matt Redman's Facedown CD, you've heard her giving all of those songs an edge through amazing background vocals. There really is no other vocalist I know of that is as talented as she. If I could ever meet them or talk to them, I'd just like to say thanks to both for their wonderful ministry over the last ten years. The music of Watermark will always have a special place in the life of our family.
