If you missed the message yesterday and you've got kids, you MUST listen online. Tim tackled the tough issue of child discipline (yes...including spanking) in our fourth week of the Seasons series. The message was called "Taming the Tempest: Weathering the Storms of the Heart". As a parent of three kids it can be difficult at times to remain consistent and steadfast in discipline. Sometimes you actually get angry when a child does not listen for the fifth time or when all three at once consistently yap at your feet like little chihuahuas. Parenting is never easy, but it's so important for me to remember that in my role as a father, my kids are learning more about who God is with each reaction. Yesterday's message was an encouraging reminder...thanks Tim for bringing it! You can listen to it here. If not for the child discipline...at least listen for the doctrine taught at a church that encourages "Wife Spanking" as a valid Biblical form of discipline. Wonder if that'd go over well in my house?
Music-wise we pulled out some songs we did at Ignite. Don't forget you can click the title to purchase on iTunes. If you don't have iTunes, it's free and is quite a nifty little music player. Here's the list:
- Awesome is the Lord Most High (A)by Chris Tomlin (personally one of my faves right now)
- Let God Arise (B) by Chris Tomlin
- Everlasting God (C) by Brenton Brown
- Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) (E) By Newton and Tomlin
- Shine (G) by Matt Redman
During first service we had three folks dedicate their babies. I had the first opportunity in my pastoral role to pray over a family and their newborn. What a privilege! By the way...my comment about "convincing my wife we need another one" was not communicated effectively. What I meant to say was "With such a cute baby such as Tyson, how could anyone NOT want another baby?" So please...Addie, forgive me...I didn't mean it that way...totally came out wrong. I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER CHILD. THREE & THROUGH.
