I can't thank my buddy Michael Foley enough for stepping up to the plate last week in my absence. You won't find a better person with a heart for God and people than him to lead. Thanks also to Preston Morris for stepping in on the acoustic. My family had an awesome time together last week having church in our home. It's volunteers like those two fellas that make it easy to take those much needed family breaks. On to this week....
There is no explaining what a week away can do for the soul of a
worship leader. Seriously...on Thursday evening, right before
rehearsal, I was so pumped to rehearse with my band mates. And it carried over to Sunday.
Let me start off by answering this question...Yes...that was me playing electric guitar for two of the songs (King and Hosanna). I've been quietly encouraged by my fellow musicians to branch out into this area and I accepted the call this week. Thanks to Brad (Soakie) for the use of his Line6 gear and to Sam for the use of his Les Paul. It was fun...next time I'll have to remember to turn off the tuner before starting one of the songs. Not helpful. Playing my Breedlove acoustic doesn't quite give me many opportunities to tinker with pedals and what not. Something I'll have to get used to.
Here's this week's songlist:
- Point of Difference (B) - Hillsong United
- King (D) - Tree63
- Hosanna (E) - Hillsong United
- I Stand Amazed (G) - Chris Tomlin version
- It is Well (B) - Horatio Spafford
For those interested in the story behind "It is Well" that Tim talked about at the close of service, click here. Very fitting for yesterday's message called "How Could God Let Bad Things Happen?". Check out this great message Tim brought here.
Series Video Bump - During our current series "Uncertain", we've been playing a video bump that Doug Howey put together...which he did an awesome job on. The tune on the video is "It's the End of the World as We Know It" by R.E.M. This song is one of the first I ever learned to play. You can check it out on iTunes here.
