The role of "Worship Leader" in the local church is one of those things people often confuse with "song singer", "Minister of Music", "person who preps the people to hear the message" among other things. Hopefully all folks in the role of "Worship Leader" understand their calling is much more than these definitions. It's a calling to connect people to Christ leading them to honor the Lord with their hearts both on and off the stage. One of those guys who gets it is Josh Canady.
Josh has been on our worship team at Grace for over a year now. Quietly singing and playing on our
team with nothing but a heart to serve the people of the church and the Lord with his gifts and talents. What I love about Josh is his attitude of knowing that we all have something to learn and grow from. I've met a lot of people throughout my years being a worship pastor who come to our church wanting me to recognize their talents and beg them to be a part of the team. In my experience, I've learned that I should NEVER be interested in getting the most amazing musicians...but the most amazing worship leaders and pursuers of Christ. The rest typically takes care of itself. I can tell pretty quickly who these folks are, and Josh has always displayed a sincere humbleness that is infectous!
I knew Josh would be a perfect addition to our team when I received a Facebook note from him asking for tips and critiques that I could give after leading for the first time here at Grace. To see that he gets the principle that we never fully arrive but we should constantly be looking for ways to improve spoke volumes to the type of leader he is. Lately he's taken that role for me during weekends I've had to be absent for various reasons and has done an oustanding job manning the helm.
Josh is another reason I LOVE being a part of this amazing team of people who make worship services at Grace possible each week. Thank you Josh for serving the Lord with your gifts and talents! If you see Josh this weekend...be sure to tell him he's SUPER COOL!!! Check out Josh on iTunes.
