I love our "utility" volunteers on the Weekend Service Team at Grace. Those few are the ones who use their gifts and talents in more than one specific area on our team. Some are members of the lighting team while volunteering on the stage team. Others run both the media presentation while at times volunteering on the Video Production & Streaming Team. Hector is one of our team members who serves on the worship team along with running the audio for weekend services.
In 2008 Hector joined the audio team and became an integral part of making the audio at Grace happen during services. Let's be honest, audio team folks RARELY hear the positive...and that's ok. They embrace the silent response to the work they do as approval. Typically the only feedbaack they receive from folks is that the sound is too loud, band folks telling them to turn their instrument up in the mix etc. It's a role that oftentimes demands a measured bit of patience. Hector has always been one of those guys who embraces the challenges and overcomes them.
In addition to the audio, Hector plays percussion on the worship team. Lately on our worship team we've had to call upon him to serve more than the average two weekends a month due to losing some players to scheduling conflicts, surgeries, school etc. He's always willing to step in when a need arises. He pays attention to so many details in songs that oftentimes I look to him when learning a new tune. It's his humble attitude and heart to bring the best he can in service to the Lord in whatever role he plays during weekend services that makes what I do a joy. I love serving alongside people like Hector every week.
Thank you Hector for serving the Lord with your talents and gifts! If you see Hector this weekend...be sure to tell him he's SUPER COOL!!!
